The alloy spreader block has a crossbar that provides extra strength and acts as a handy handle for lifting larger fish. Importantly, this hollow frame is properly sealed , so that it does not fill with water and become heavier when submerged.

The net itself has larger meshes on the sides to reduce water resistance and improve maneuverability, as well as fine mesh at the bottom to gently embed the fish.

The entire net , including the frame, has a muted bronze/olive color . When lowered into the water, it looks so natural and "plant-like" that the fish become less shy. Some species – especially chub – may even dive into the net instead of moving away.
