The BASIX Weigh Sling (along with the BASIX Cradle) is perfect for youngsters, those new to angling, those on a limited budget, occasional anglers, and anyone who simply doesn’t want to spend a lot of money, whilst still prioritising the safe handling of fish.

This is a traditional weigh sling with a few added features, designed for safely transferring fish from the water to your unhooking mat and back again, as well as for weighing – it is not a retainer and cannot be used as such.

The weigh sling is made from a durable nylon and is long and deep enough to comfortably weigh any carp you are likely to catch in the UK, and can also be used at many venues abroad. It features strong, lightweight powder-coated two-piece metal bars in the top to give it rigidity and make weighing safer for the fish. When not in use the bars can easily be split in half – they are elasticated – and the sling folds up into the supplied compact bag (the folded length means it will fit inside the BASIX Cradle, or into an outer pocket of a Compac Rod Holdall).

A strong webbing strap is attached to the bars at each side and provides good balance when clipped to the hook of your scales, allowing for fish to be weighed safely. The sling features plenty of large drainage holes along the bottom, so when fish are manoeuvred into it, such as from the margins in your rolled up landing net, the water quickly drains out as you lift it to the unhooking mat.

Quality zips at each end ensure that fish won’t slip out during transit or weighing, and are easy to open and close. The sling is designed to float, which makes transferring fish and the rolled-up net in the water easy without having to lift the net, thus reducing the risk of damage to fins and tail.
