COG stands for Centre Of Gravity and refers to the fact that this lead is designed to be as effective as possible when a carp picks up the bait. The construction ensures that the fish feels the weight of the lead as quickly as possible.
This is achieved by lifting the lead from the middle of one of the flat sides, instead of from one end as with a regular swivel or inline lead. This way, the weight is transferred faster to the hook.
The COG effect is created by a hole in the lead placed in the exact right position. Inside the hole is a plastic grommet into which a size 8 swivel can be pressed.
To achieve perfect centre of gravity when the fish first lifts the lead, and at the same time ensure that the rig is fish safe, the lead must be used together with the COG System.
The COG System (sold separately) includes:
-
a leadcore link of the correct length for the lead size
-
a Lead Clip and Tail Rubber
-
a Kwik Link for attaching your hooklink
COG Flat Distance is designed for longer casts, as it is more aerodynamic and casts straighter than the Flat Pear model. At the same time, it has flat sides, which help prevent the lead from rolling down slopes on the bottom.
