COG stands for Centre Of Gravity and means that this lead is designed to be as effective as possible when a carp picks up the bait, so that it feels the full weight of the lead as quickly as possible.

This is achieved by lifting the lead from the middle of one of the flat sides, instead of from one end as with a regular swivel or inline lead. This way, the weight is transferred to the hook faster.

The COG effect is created by a hole in the lead that is in exactly the right position. In the hole there is a plastic grommet where a size 8 swivel can be pushed in.

To achieve perfect centre of gravity when the fish first lifts the lead, and to ensure the rig is fish-safe, the lead must be used together with the COG System.
The COG System (sold separately) includes:

• a leadcore link of the correct length for the lead size

• a Lead Clip and Tail Rubber

• a Kwik Link where you attach your hooklink

The COG Flat Pear is designed for shorter casts, and works particularly well when casting on sloping bottoms, as the lead stays exactly where it lands.
