This ingenious system revolutionised fishing with helicopter rigs, as it allowed the lead to always be released immediately when you hooked a fish, whenever the situation demanded it. In addition to releasing the lead when fishing in very weed-dense or snaggy areas, it is also popular with anyone using a chod rig, where ejecting the lead increases your chances of landing a fish, especially at long range where a heavy lead is used.

There is also the option to attach a small plastic collar (included) that fixes the lead in place, for use in situations where it is not necessary to release it, but where you still want the flexibility offered by the Heli-Safe system. It can be used with hooklinks – for example, any ring swivel hooklink from our Dark Matter or Kable Leadcore ranges, which can be adapted to fit the Heli-Safe bead – or with a naked set-up where the main line runs directly through the system.

The Heli-Safe system works perfectly with our Leadcore Chod Safety or Naked Chod Safety systems. Each pack contains two Heli-Safe beads, in your choice of green or brown, along with all the components you need to get the system working – including instructions.
