The Kamakura sharpening process produces a hook point as good as a hand-sharpened hook, but without you having to put in all the time and effort yourself. The Kamakura Wide Gape is a version of this classic pattern, but with a much sharper and finer point – it is likely that you will need to change hooks after each fish you catch, as the points are so delicate.

It features a slightly in-turned eye, short shank, heavily forged bend, and a beaked point. It can be used with a variety of pop-up and bottom bait presentations, and once it's hooked, it tends to stay put.

The points are protected by a small wax blob that must be carefully removed before use, and the hooks come in a box that keeps each hook securely in place – each box contains ten hooks.
