The Kamakura sharpening process produces a hook point that is as good as a hand-sharpened hook, but without you having to put in all the time and effort – you can be confident that these hooks are perfect every time, straight out of the box.
The Kamakura Wide Gape X is an upgraded version of this classic pattern, featuring a heavier wire, but with a much sharper and finer point than the standard 'X' hook – it is likely that you will need to change the hook after every fish you catch, as the points are so delicate.
It features a slightly in-turned eye, a short shank, a strong forged bend, and a beaked point. It can be used with a variety of pop-up and bottom bait presentations, and once it takes hold, it tends to stay put.
The points are protected by a small blob of wax, which must be carefully removed before use, and the hooks come in a box that securely holds each hook in place – each box contains ten hooks.
