The new Long Chuck mainline is specially designed for long-distance fishing and provides extra range compared to a standard monofilament line. It has ultra-low stretch, which allows for faster compression of the rod tip, and thanks to very low water absorption, it also becomes easier to feel when the lead hits the bottom at longer distances or in crosswinds.

The low water absorption also means that the line stays light and remains in the air longer, reducing air resistance on the lead during the cast. However, the biggest factor for this is that the line is clear – adding color to a monofilament line increases weight, changes the molecular structure, and adds more stretch, meaning colored lines do not cast as far.

Long Chuck also has a high breaking strain-to-diameter ratio, which reduces both air resistance and line weight compared to lines with the same breaking strain:

• 20 lb = 0.40 mm
