The original Korda Longshank X was based on popular, classic fly hook patterns, which became popular among carp anglers due to their shape and good hooking properties – we just made them much stronger and sharper.

20 years later, DF (Danny Fairbrass) has once again fine-tuned this ultimate carp catcher. With strong influence from his underwater observations, Dan decided to make two major changes to one of his favourite patterns, making it an even deadlier option in his arsenal.

The first change was to create the hook with a beaked point. During testing, this point proved to provide more secure hookups, significantly increasing the ratio of hooked to landed fish.

The second change was to bend the hook eye even further inwards. The original model had a 20-degree in-turned eye, while the new beaked version has 40 degrees. This allows the hook to turn and rotate much faster in the carp's mouth, providing consistently better hook holds.

Just like the original, the Longshank Beaked is forged and has a thicker wire gauge for added strength. At the same time, it retains its durability thanks to a PTFE coating.
